The Manhattan Golf Association is a newly formed club (without real estate) under the banner of the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) for NYC based golfers. The benefits of being under the umbrella of the MGA is it gives our members access to courses at some of the Tri-State’s most elite Country Clubs and also sets up competitions against other clubs in the New York area.
The aim for the Manhattan Golf Association is twofold.
One: To make golf accessible for players who live in and around NYC and want to be part of an exciting handicap competition while experiencing some of the most challenging golf courses in the Tri-State area.
Two: To introduce golfers to some of the most challenging public and private courses within a 90-minute drive from New York City.
Program: From June 4 to October 15, 2018, an eclectic group of 28 golfers will battle it out over 10 rounds - in a Stableford format - for the impressive Manhattan Trophy and a $2000 prize. Playing every second Monday on some of the most picturesque golf courses throughout Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, golfers will be shuttled to and from the Broadway-Lafayette train stop on the corner of Houston and Lafayette.
Cost: Price for the season is $1400, which includes shuttle fees, green fees and cart fees. Add $27.00 if you want to renew or obtain a GHIN with the MGA via the Manhattan Golf Association.
The Manhattan Golf Association is the creation of Nicholas Mason, founding director of the world-renowned MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival, an event which each year unites 100,000 people in over 300 cities across six continents and celebrates its 21st anniversary in 2018. The Manhattan Golf Association is his next groundbreaking venture.
“I fell in love with golf a few years back,” explains Nicholas. “I love playing the game and hanging out and learning from people who play. However, living in NYC without a car, I have found it difficult to visit a larger selection of courses. This has led me to form the Manhattan Golf Association, a tournament allowing me and other players easy access to sensational courses while creating an association that forges new friendships with fellow NYC-based golfers. I have created one of the largest short film festivals in the world and now I'm looking forward to creating one of the strongest golf associations in the Tri-State Area. Please, come and join me.”
